  • Remember to work both sides for technical balance

  • Player completes the following pattern around the mannequin:
    • Right foot pass
    • Left foot pass
    • Header behind
    • Pass in front
  • Coach then calls a number
  • Player must react to the number called and move to the cone and back to the mannequin to reset

  • Coach dribbles towards the player
  • Player must jockey back, keeping a good distance from the coach
  • Player must angle their body towards the ball, reacting to the coach’s movement
  • Reset when at the bottom of the channel and go back the other way

  • Coach dribbles towards the player with the player jockeying as before
  • At any point the coach should take a heavy touch and that is the cue for the player to jump in and tackle the ball
  • Player then looks up to see the awareness tool
  • Whichever colour is shown on the awareness tool, the player should pass into this goal

Duration: 20% (12 mins / 18 mins)
  • On the coach’s command the player presses the red marker
  • As the player comes back towards the front post the coach should shoot the ball across
  • Player aims to block and deflect the shot
  • To progress:
    • Vary the service height
    • Add in another block
  • Have the player receive and turn out to pass
